Welcome to Heart of Wessex
Hi, I'm glad you've made it to my site, thats further than I thought I would make it when dreaming up my little passion project. I imagine you would like to know how this happened and what its all about, let me give you the rundown.
Throughout my last few years at university I found the stress and expectations of the future were draining my energy and not allowing me to feel the joy and fun that I had previously found from my hobbies, along with the lack of money and time that these hobbies required be devoted to them. So, being the creatively inclined person I am, I started feeling out all of the 'cheaper' arts and crafts hobbies I came across, dipping my toes into almost every one it felt like, and I had great fun doing it, my mind was more relaxed and I felt productive.
I continued with this method of creativity until the current worldwide COVID-19 pandemic put an end to my requirement to be at university in March 2020 and came home to my parents to finish my studies which ignited my frustrations and worries once more. Then my mum introduced me to crocheting and oh boy was I in for a treat. I had found something that I was good at! I know that sounds a bit up myself but you have to understand that I never felt like I belonged at uni, I felt I wasnt good enough and that I wouldn't achieve anything near what my peers were achieving, so finding something that I was good at was incredible. I kept creating little things for myself, a headband here to keep my eyes out of my face while writing my dissertation, a scrunchie there to tie up my hair for an evening walk to get out of the house, I was having a great time. Then, to my surprise, a friend asked me to make them a scrunchie too, and there started my passion project, I am now creating products for friends and family as well as selling more refined products and developing patterns for those out of my current postal reach.
I am currently selling premade products such as headscarves, pet bandannas and bookmarks with the hopes that any money made will enable me to develop a wider range of products, take custom orders, increase accessibility and allow me to make donations in the future.
Thank you for taking the time read this, I do hope that you will continue to support me and give this project a chance,
MW
